Event: Mambo de Chocobo Mingle Post

It starts on what should have been another ordinary day.

“Wark?”

You may be at the hotel, shopping in a store, eating out at a restaurant, or anywhere else in Edge. A large bird is looking at you. Or walking around the building. Or trying to eat some food anywhere it sees some.

There are more such birds. They come in many different colors. And they are everywhere, getting into everything.

Soon ads go up around town about the wayward chocobos. They escaped from some trucks and the truckers will pay to get them back. Time to load up on greens, bring a friend or two, and try to bring them in!

He stared at that. "You're not punished for such behavior?"

"Sure I am. She sends me to my room while she sits downstairs and does whatever Nanis do to calm down. Then she comes up and tells me she loves me and I was right all along," she said with a nod.

She might be glossing over a few annoying details in her summation.

Sephiroth was very concerned, both at such behavior and that it was apparently being enabled by Nani giving in all the time. He couldn't imagine such a thing with his own upbringing. His has been horrible, but one of the few things he could agree with was that biting wasn't allowed.

"Biting should never be a way to try to win points for your argument," he said in concern. "That could seriously hurt someone."

"My teeth are too tiny for that. I'm not my dog. If he bites someone it hurts. But I guess I could go back to just licking her. But sometimes I can't escape that way."

"... Your dog bites as well? Hasn't there been trouble over that?"

He couldn't imagine a creature like that being allowed back home.

"Well he mostly bites bad guys. And sometimes cousins before they are good."

"... I see. Would he be inclined to bite me?"

He would not just stand there and allow it to happen.

"If you're not evil, then probability not. Unless you took a bath in coconut cake. He likes coconut cake."

Was he evil? He had been when he had unleashed so much chaos. But now he was sane, and hurting, and only wanted to make things right.

"... I have never taken a bath in coconut cake," he deadpanned.

"Then you're probably safe."

"I would hope so," Sephiroth replied. "... Is your dog here with you?"

"Uh huh. He's trying to figure out if the birds are ohana or are food."

"If you mean the chocobos, they are definitely not food," Sephiroth said in concern.

"Then they are evil speriments?"

"No, they're just normal, naturally occurring animals on this world. And they are rarely, if ever, evil."

"...... Maybe... they're vampire animals?"

"I have never heard of a chocobo vampire," Sephiroth replied, still deadpanning.

"Oh! A chocolate vampire!"

Sephiroth looked amused. "The birds are chocobos," he said. "That is their species name."

"Uh huh. But what are they?"

"They're just birds. People ride them," Sephiroth said. "They eat greens." He held up some he had been carrying.

"Wait, so they're evil 'speriment birds that fly you around and eat all your yucky vegetables?"

Sephiroth quirked an eyebrow. "They're not evil or experiments, but otherwise, yes, I suppose you could say that."

"Cool! I want one!" An it can eat all her yucky vegetables. "All my friends would have to like me if I had a pet that I could fly on the back of!"

Sephiroth was about to caution that chocobos aren't always easy to befriend and sometimes people get thrown repeatedly, and that they don't fly, but something in that comment sounded very wrong and very heartbreaking and he stopped to really take it in.

"... Don't your friends back home like you?"
