Event: Mambo de Chocobo Mingle Post

It starts on what should have been another ordinary day.

“Wark?”

You may be at the hotel, shopping in a store, eating out at a restaurant, or anywhere else in Edge. A large bird is looking at you. Or walking around the building. Or trying to eat some food anywhere it sees some.

There are more such birds. They come in many different colors. And they are everywhere, getting into everything.

Soon ads go up around town about the wayward chocobos. They escaped from some trucks and the truckers will pay to get them back. Time to load up on greens, bring a friend or two, and try to bring them in!

She slid away to try and circle around behind the chocobo, clearly planning to jump it when he had it distracted.

Sephiroth looked concerned as he realized, still afraid it might bolt.

"Careful," he said. "Be gentle."

"Don't let him know I'm sneaking up, that ruins the whole point of sneaking!"

"He may get surprised and bolt anyway," Sephiroth said as he continued to feed the chocobo. "We don't want that to happen in here."

The bird blissfully ate.

"Why? Does he turn everything all hot and liquidy like Melty?"

Sephiroth gives her a flat look. "We're inside a store. As I said, if he bolts, he could knock over many things and you might be hurt. Or other people here might get hurt."

"So if not melty bolts... zappy bolts? Like Sparky?"

Sephiroth suspected she understood but was messing with his head after the deliberate mispronunciation gag.

"If all the shelves in the store get knocked over, it will definitely be a mess," he said. "And a lot of food might get wasted."

"And that's... bad... right?"

"Yes. Very bad. It would be in any case, but especially now, when there are so many extra people here who need food."

"Hitting the floor doesn't destroy food, it just... dirties it a little. But if we need food so much and they're not cousins why aren'w we eating the chocolate ball birds?"

Or dirties it a lot.

"We haven't got that level of desperate yet. Pack and riding animals aren't generally eaten; that would be illogical."

"Why... would it make us sick?"

"Not as far as I know. But if we eat them, what would we use for pack and riding animals?"

"Why do we need suit case animals?"

"Because that's just the way it is here," he said. "The ... other me told me about horses serving that purpose in his world. We have chocobos instead."

"No one is old enough to drive here either?"

He looked amused at that. "A lot are, and some have cars or motorcycles. But not everyone can afford them, and some prefer chocobos."

"And I prefer lots and lots of ice cream for every meal. And cake. But Nani says there wouldn't be enough food for everyone if I had all I wanted every meal..."

"Heh. I'm sure Nani is right." He looked a bit amused, but with an added softness the other Sephiroth might not have as much.

"Awwww, you grownups gotta stick together..."

"Well, that said, I don't suppose it would hurt to indulge every now and then."

Hojo never would have allowed it. But with Zack Sephiroth had learned to do things much differently, and had been much happier for it.

"Really?!" She considered. "Days that end in Y would be good."

"That would be everyday," Sephiroth deadpanned.
