A Magical Stranger Comes to Town

In just a few seconds, Harry’s life has gotten from rough to very weird. Just a few moments ago, he had been at the Headmaster’s Office to fix up his old wand with the Elder Wand and was planning to what to do to keep it from very greedy hands. But when he gets to pick up his wand and feels relief upon reuniting with it, suddenly a mysterious portal appears out of nowhere and drags him away from his world and into a different place (world?).

He has no time to react and run as he gets dragged away and finds himself being dropped onto the ground without any warning. The young man manages to get up and begins to get the dust out of his clothes and tries to see how did he got separated from his friends and his school in such a manner. How will Ron and Hermione react to him disappearing in front of them like that? Is the British magical community going to set up a rescue mission to find him? He takes the time to look around and finds that he has arrived at a city with its buildings being so different from the ones he’s familiar with at home and wonders if he can ask for directions to him to take to return home as fast as he can.

But that will have to wait though as he soon discovers that he wasn’t alone in the city upon seeing dozens of people running away in a panic and what they are trying to get away from and it is not great news either: small black shadowy creatures are beginning to approach and they seem to want to get something from him. What is it they’re going after right now? Harry has dealt with threats and attacks targeted at him and dark wizards and witches who wanted him dead, but he certainly never encountered these things before in his life ever.

Sensing the danger he is, he has his wand out and ready and begins to cast spells to keep them away from him and any passing civilian in the area. Still these things can’t seem to take defeat as an answer as they keep on coming and swarming around him. It looks like he is going to need help to tackle this one, a lot of it in fact.

A man with three blue wings suddenly descends out of the sky, stabbing his sword down at several of the creatures. They vanish.

He straightens, looking to Harry. "You need to find shelter as soon as possible. These creatures crave hearts and won't stop until they get them."

Quite a greeting, but he has no time to mince words right now. He feels the full danger should be known.

Harry is left speechless a he witnesses his three winged savior coming in to take several shadowy critters in front of his eyes. The young wonders how he is able to manage to take them out this effortlessly. The only time he held a sword was when he was, like, only 12 and trying to stop a giant Basilisk that was living underneath his school.

“Right, find a place to hide. But I just arrived here and I’m just lost too,” Harry speaks as he tries to look around for a good hiding place, “Should we try to get to higher ground perhaps?”

"Yes. I can fly you away from here, or we can try teleporting," he says. "Although we'd have no guarantee there wouldn't be more on the other side of the portal."

“Either option is fine as long as we can get out of these guys’ line of sight, but I think that flying might be a better option. I’m not sure if I can try to teleport in and out at will at this time,” Harry speaks in a nervous tone as he tries not to think too hard on the shadowy creatures that are coming for him and his rescuer.

The young man isn’t even sure if he could Apparate freely in this new world, the feeling of flight though is more familiar to him even if he had only experienced them on a broom for a good part of his life. He would take holding onto the hand of anyone who could fly in the sky than risk Apparating and land on another shadowy creature filled area of the city.

"I see. You can teleport as well?" Intriguing, but hardly the time to question it further. He spread his wings and reached for Harry. "We'll look for a safe place from the air."

“In a way, yes though how works in my world may be different from what you’re capable of,” Harry replies to him as he proceeds to get a grip on the man’s hand, “Got it, we should be able to find a hiding spot from the skies without those things trying to chase after us.”

A nod. "When circumstances aren't so dire, I would be interested in hearing more about your version," he said.

Once he had a firm grip on Harry, he rose into the sky with mighty flaps of all three wings. From the air, black masses of Heartless were visible swarming over seemingly everything. He studied the scene, deeply frowning.

"... The hotel roof is clear for now," he said at last.

Harry could only watch the seas of the shadowy creatures hopelessly from the skies (he hasn’t figured out what they are called just yet)while keeping his grip on the man’s hand as tight as he can and he grimaces at how fast and relentless they can be in finding their prey. This reminds him too much of how Dementors would do anything to suck any form of happiness and maybe even life of their would be victims.

Luckily the sight of a hotel roof free from those things is not far away so they can land in there and hopefully stay inside for the time being. And Harry thinks that he might be not going out anytime soon as long as the shadowy creatures keep on coming.

“Phew, thank goodness. At least we can land in there safely.”

Hopefully there weren't Heartless already in the building. Sephiroth flew over to the roof and landed, then stood looking out over the area, trying to determine where else help might be needed. It looked like help was needed everywhere at once.

"This entire area is in danger."

Maybe even the entire planet.

“Oh no, that is not looking good for everyone in this area,” Harry gasps in horror as he also takes a good look of the area surrounding the hotel.

It seems like no matter how hard someone tries to get rid of them, these creatures can’t seem to give up so easily. What an absurdly persistent group of creatures indeed, they might give the Dementors a run for their Galleons in the long run.

"Yes. I'll need to go help," Sephiroth said. Normally he can control the creatures, but he hasn't been having as much luck with that here.

“Ah okay then. Should I stay at the roof top for the time being or I could go to find some help while these guys are running all over?” Harry asks as he continues to stare at the shadowy creatures from the rooftop.

“It would be better for you to wait when you are unfamiliar with the Heartless,” Sephiroth said. Although whether or not Harry would want to listen remained to be seen. Or maybe Sephiroth or others would end up needing his help.

Oh great, Harry has no idea about what these guy are and what they are capable of. And he certainly doesn’t want to make a fool out of himself as well. The Heartless was never found on any of the books he has to read for school including the Fantastic Beasts book. Sephiroth was not kidding when he pointed out that he himself is not well versed in taking on the Heartless.

“Um, okay. I understand, but this is the very first time I have heard about the Heartless by name. Do you mind telling me more about them?”

“They are beings of darkness attracted to the darkness in people’s hearts,” Sephiroth said. “Anyone who falls prey to them becomes a Heartless as well.”

It seemed as though he had been explaining that for some time now, telling everyone he met who wasn’t from his world. He had to make sure everyone understood.

“Anyone who got caught by the Heartless becomes one as the result? Oh no, oh Merlin: this is much worse than I can even imagine… That must be a horrible way to go.”

Harry is honestly quite horrified upon hearing the last part from Sephiroth. And just when he thought having one’s happiness and life being sucked away by Dementors was a very cruel fate. It is enough to make him understandably scared for his life. At the same time though, he is also aware if any of the Dark Wizards and Witches he knows of from home had wound up being stuck in the Heartless swarm, this might have been a fate worse than death for all of them, considering how much darkness they have in their cold hearts. In any case, they might have to think twice if ever they do face the Heartless.

“Well, I might have to be more careful with them. They seem to be a lot scarier than many terrifying creatures I have encountered in my world.”

"Yes.... I imagine it's an existence far worse than death. There is a way to restore people to their normal selves, but it's complicated and it requires a Keyblade wielder. That's a special type of weapon from my world."

He nods grimly. "I've heard similar thoughts from others I've told."

“So the Keyblades grant certain people the ability to restore the Heartless back to normal? That would be very nice to have at a time like this but I haven’t see one right now,” Harry speaks up, “Oh my, everyone else who was told about the Heartless have said similar things about them as well? Guess that I’m not the only one who is freaked out by their presence alone.”

"They are one element of it," Sephiroth says. "The victims separate into two beings, the Heartless and the Nobody. As I understand it, if a Keyblade wielder defeats a Heartless, then it will reunite with the Nobody when it's defeated as well and the person will be restored."

A grim nod. "It isn't a pleasant thing to learn if one's world doesn't have such beings."

He wasn’t expecting to hear that the Heartless’ victims could get split into two different aspects up until now. Still the fact the Keyblade wielders can be able to reunite the two upon defeating them did at least gave him some sort of relief even though he still can’t get over how abundant these Heartless are at the moment.

“Ah I get it now. As long as the Keyblade wielders can defeat the two, the people affected will be restored back to normal, although I assume that it won’t be so easy to get them to reunite as soon as possible.”

“I am not sure if the Keyblade wielder must be the one to defeat the Nobody, but yes, it is a complicated procedure either way,” Sephiroth said.

He nods in return, finally understanding a little more about the Heartless. It is going to take a while for him to get used to having to deal with them (even for a short time), but at least he has the knowledge to go by. Either way, he will have to stay put at the hotel for the time being and hope for the better.

“Okay, understood. Anyway, now that we’re at the hotel’s rooftop, should I go inside and stay put as long as there are no sign of the Heartless roaming around?”

“Yes, that would be the wisest,” Sephiroth said. “Hopefully they haven’t got inside on the lower levels.”

“Yeah, I hope that they didn’t reach the lower floors either. That would be a horrifying sight to step into,” Harry nods in agreement.

Sephiroth debates with himself and then says, "I should come inside with you to make sure." He heads for the door.
