Who: Seifer and OPEN
What: Meeting people and exploring
Where: Edge
When: Sometime shortly after his arrival
Warnings: Language likely
7th Heaven Hotel
Seifer admittedly hadn't had either the energy or much of anything else to pay attention to half of what was going on. He'd found the hotel that was set up for people showing up out of nowhere, grumbled his way through getting a room, and promptly face planted in to the bed once the door was locked behind him.
The young man who'd emerged nearly a day later looked... better than the one who'd walked in. There was a certain magic to sleeping and a hot shower. Better wasn't great though, and there was only so much that could be done short term to get himself not looking like he'd been dragged backwards through a nightmare.
A nightmare he'd... deal with later.
The basics of survival mattered more; he had shelter and water, at least for the moment, but no idea about the food situation in this place and no money on him to buy any in the city beyond.
Seifer stepped from the elevator to what seemed to be some kind of lobby-ish-thing and looked around for someone to ask questions of. He'd left his (currently tattered) coat up in the room, though Hyperion hung on him still. Coats were replaceable, gunblades might not be if he got chased out of here.
"Hey, uh... anyone here?" he called out, not spotting anyone immediately.
Around The City
Seifer eventually gets away from the hotel, keen to explore Edge and get a sense of what this place had going on.
There was a few things he was looking for as he strode through streets like he knew what he was doing, some sort of public library, somewhere willing to hire him, and a weaponsmith. Not necessarily in that order, but those where the top three priorities of what he wanted to find.
The biggest thing he hadn't wanted to find was, apparently, sitting on the edge of town like the flying fortress belonged there.
The sight of Balamb Garden had a vicious sort of clawing guilt rise in his throat. He knew who'd likely be there, though wasn't sure if it would be worse if the place was abandoned instead.
More things to watch out for, but to avoid rather than seek, at least for the moment.
Seifer had found a wall to lean against, rubbing his hands over his face and letting out a heaving sigh. He hadn't noticed that he'd sunk down in to a squat, though he did crack his fingers apart at the sound of someone approaching and glare out.

"What?"
Re: Around the City
"...you a local?"
Re: Around the City
"Yes, I am. Are you?"
Re: Around the City
He gestured vaguely in the direction of what was left of Midgar with that.
Re: Around the City
Re: Around the City
He's mostly thinking out loud, blowing out a sigh.
"Doesn't explain anything about what led up to now, socioeconomics and politics... but yeah, Library. I'll get you lunch for playing tour guide?"
Re: Around the City
He nodded. "Thank you. I can tell you more of the history as we walk.
"Most of what happened is because of the greed of a worldwide company that managed to become the Planet's government for decades. They ruled with an iron fist, but fooled many both inside and outside the company into believing they were working for everyone's best good. Behind the scenes, they were devising new ways to assert their control and performing inhuman experiments on anyone they wanted, even unborn children. The children had ... strange abilities upon birth."
Re: Around the City
He's just glad that the conversation moves along, and is going to keep it moving.
There's an understanding nod, "See, that's why you shouldn't have a business running politics; nobody wins in the end." he sighed, "So.... if I'm following, the govern-business decided that making mucking around with genetics for shits and giggles was a smart move and it turns out, shock of shock kids who've had their genetics messed with turn out weird. Let me guess... cared more about money than people?"
Re: Around the City
"Heh. Yes, that sums it up quite well. One of those children was groomed from childhood to be the perfect monster. He tried to be a decent person anyway until he learned the full truth of his origins and snapped. He was the one who tried to become a god. Now the entire Planet, and even others from other planets, have to suffer because of his madness."
Re: Around the City
It's not exactly sympathy, though an understanding.
"...suffering's a matter of who's looking at it, this place might be better than wherever someone's coming from."
Re: Around the City
"He did have one person who cared. But ... after everyone else had abandoned him, he no longer thought clearly when he discovered what he thought was the full truth. Had he been able to keep hold of any scrap of sanity with the one who cared for him, perhaps everything would have been different. But it's a moot point now."
A nod. "I'm glad at least someone is a better situation."
Re: Around the City
Seifer can't help a bit of a sideways grin. "Wonder if he'd be down for a spar sometime, once I don't feel like I got dragged backasswards through a tonberry nest."
Re: Around the City
“Perhaps,” he said with a slight smirk of his own.
Re: Around the City
Seifer's mostly thinking about Zell and how easy it was to get under the guy's skin, and how quickly that could go sideways if he went off the deep end.
"So, what do you do anyway? Other than wander around the city."
Re: Around the City
He sighed. "Mostly I try to figure out what happened with the portals and how to fix it."
I'm cackling btw
"Well if you need someone to watch your back while looking in to the portals, Prettyboy, I'm both good in a fight and interested in figuring out how this place works."
LOL.
He nodded. “Thank you, but I am well-versed in battle. I wouldn’t mind company, however.”
no subject
"Sure thing, I mean who knows what the hell might come out of one of those. Could be harmless... might be Odin." he shrugged.
no subject
"I suppose Odin or the other summons would be furious."
